I Love Drugstore Makeup Tag (Nail Polish Edition)!...

Hi! I was tagged by the wonderful Rae from Scatterbraintures a loooong time ago and I finally did it. Unfortunately, I don't own any makeup products (*cue gasps*) sooooo I'm going to do the nail polish version of this tag. I spent two days answering these tough questions and they made me think a little bit.... okay, more than a little...
(^_~)

1. What is your favorite drugstore makeup nail polish brand?
Hmmmmmmmm.... I love all of them but if I really have to choose, it would either be Bobbie/Chic. Chic Centre Corporation is a local company that has several nail polish brands under it (one of which is Bobbie). I just love how this company keeps up with the constantly evolving nail polish trends. They have a textured collection, a yogurt collection, a thermal-changing collection - even caviar sets. Hooray for awesome local brands!
(^_^)

2. What are your favorite face, cheek and lip nail polish and nail art products/tools?
I have around 400 bottles (I think) and all of them are my babies! I can't just choose one... But! I discovered that I went through one bottle of Chic Ash and I am also close to finishing my second one! It's definitely my go-to work polish.
(^^,)

Now, I am also just grateful to whoever invented stamping image plates. Almost all of my nail art looks were products of stamping. As someone who is not that talented at freehand nail art, I am happy that I'm able to stamp such awesome designs on my nails.
(^-^)

3. Least favorite product?
I am personally not a fan of cracking polishes. Or maybe I haven't found the right cracking look yet. I don't know.. I haven't explored it that much. I gave all of my cracking polishes away because I wasn't using any of them.
(=_=")

4. What is the best makeup nail polish bargain?
The Bobbie Matte Top Coat. I am a matte addict and this is the best/cheapest matte top coat I could find here. It's just Php 37.00 / US$ 0.82! Every girl should definitely have this in their nail polish collection.
(^o^)

5. What is your favorite underdog product? (Something you love that often gets overlooked?)
It'd have to be Oh My Golly Quartz or Oh My Golly Jive - basically the whole Oh My Golly brand. This brand claims to be Toluene and DBP free which is rare in a cheap local drugstore brand. I don't see a lot of reviews about them online but I think this will soon change once people notice that it's 2-free.
(~^_^)~

6. A drugstore product that is overpriced?
I agree with Rae on this one. Imported products (nail polish included) are a wee bit overpriced here. There are customs taxes, import duties, processing fees (whut?) and other "miscellaneous" fees to deal with... And I know they need to increase their prices to cover said fees but to increase that much? *sighs*
(-_-)

7. Show your best drugstore dupe(s)!!!
Aha! It's time to whip out my nail polish swatch book!... Hmmmm... I don't really have high-end polishes in my collection so I'll make this the imported vs local version instead. The first pair is Chic Peridot and Zoya Vespa. If you add a top coat to Vespa, Peridot will come out... maybe? I don't own Vespa (too expensive here) so I can't really compare them side by side. *sobs*.. But technically speaking, Chic Peridot came out before Zoya Vespa sooo Vespa is the dupe? lol. Anyway, the second pair is Zoya Dahlia and Oh My Golly Hematite. Again, I don't own Zoya Dahlia but I can tell they're really similar just by looking at online swatches. Special Mention: Milani Tricky Treat and Caronia Bronzed Platinum. The End.
(^^,)

8. Drugstore product that isn't worth the hype?
I'm not really sure what the local "hyped up" nail polishes are. I guess I live in my own little bubble.
~(^_^~)

Whew. My brain is tired from all that thinking! lol. Anyway, I tag all of youuuu! Hihi. I want to know what you think and don't be afraid to leave a link to your blog post about this tag below. I will definitely find time to read them. Thanks for dropping by today! Good bye and I'll see you again soon!

  1. Is Orly a drugstore nail polish? I think Orly is hyped. Ok, I don't know really. But it's famous and it's not good.

Thanks for doing the tag, I had fun reading because I only have 2 colored nail polish. 1 mattifier and top coat.

    1. Hi Rae! Thanks for reading this! I think Orly is a drugstore nail polish. I haven't tried it yet and I'm not sure I'm going to try it anytime soon. A fellow Filipina nail blogger, Ms. Rina, had copyright issues with them and I want to support her until the issue's been resolved.

  3. This was really fun to read! I love how organized your swatch sticks & stamping plates look :) I haven't heard about any of these brands in the US, but they sound great -- $.82 for a polish is such a good price!
